Sparkles For Life

Middletown, OH

Alison M. Shuemake lost her fight to the disease of addiction on August 26, 2015. She had such a sparkling personality and a contagious smile. Ron attended recovery support groups with Alison. She also loved the color sparkles. Therefore, Sparkles For Life 5k was put together in honor of Alison's memory and her sparkling personality. Fred & Dorothy Shuemake lost a daughter. Alison was a sister, cousin, daughter, and friends to many people. "Alison" may be gone but NEVER forgotten!

Ron struggled with depression, suicide, and the disease of addiction. He was diagnosed with AIDS and Hepatitis C in 2010. Once his HIV medications stopped working... Ron lost all hope! On
4/23/2013, Ron overdosed on a bottle of his antidepressants and was in a coma for 13 days. He developed pneumonia along with acute respiratory distress syndrome. The doctors told his wife, family, and pastor to plan a funeral as there was no hope. Miraculously, Ron did come out of the coma and was discharged from the hospital on May 14, 2013. Two months later, he founded Celebrating Restoration.

Celebrating Restoration provides crisis intervention, outreach, case management(Assists with
locating treatment/after care), Court Advocacy, and more...  Our organization has assisted hundreds of individuals that have suffered from the diseases of addiction onto the path of recovery.

Today, Celebrating Restoration has an outreach center that offers outreach meetings and more...
